In 2020, two main factors led to the Board of Chapter Advisors establishing an Education Foundation to support Beta Mu.

One was the Covid-19 pandemic raging throughout the country, and disproportionately affecting the Hopkins campus and student life.

The second was the diminishment of the Triple A scholarship at Phi Gamma Delta, which had been established to bring up the GPA of it's Chapters. Having accomplished that task, the fund was transitioned to support new Chapters only.

The BCA established two awards for Current Brothers to apply for:
The Brian Cosgrove Memorial Student Athlete Award
- Given to a Current Brother who has demonstrated excellence in a Hopkins varsity sport, as well as leadership within the Chapter.
The Beta Mu Academic Excellence Award
- Given to an underclassman who lists the highest GPA amongst his class during both his Freshman and Sophomore years.

Please note: these entries will be reviewed by both the Chapter Executive Committee and Board of Chapter Advisors. No awards will be given if the criteria is not met.
